Located on the west side of the ENKA area in the Dutch city of Enschede we transformed a vacant factory hall into free standing patio houses. The factory has its typical shed construction in the roof which we preserved and accentuated by removing the timber roofing and the brickwork facade. We designed three different housing types with a different shape, program and facade materials. For the facade we used materials like corten steel, nature stone cladding and wood. Each of the houses have an inner courtyard that provides a private space while preserving the historical steel construction.
